DIVISION II-AA FIRST ROUND RESULTS:
MAY 11 v BRENTWOOD ACADEMY
GAME 1 RESULT: WIN 12-3
Ben Sompayrac led Knox Catholic to victory on the hill. The Senior pitcher surrendered only 3 runs, striking out 2, picking off 2 runners, throwing a complete game of 7 innings.
Bats were alive with 11 team hits. Grant Tallent was 3-4 (2 2Bs) to lead the Irish offense. Miller Spence, Daniel Parris (2B) and Mason Fields all added 2 hits.
GAME 2 RESULT: LOSS 2 – 1
The Irish struggled at the plate, only managing 3 team hits. Miller Spence, Ian Hubbard and Joey LaMattina (2B) each had 1 hit in the loss.
Ian Hubbard threw 6 innings, giving up 1 run while striking out 6. Jacob Camfield takes the loss, pitching 2 innings, giving up 1 run.
MAY 13 v BRENTWOOD ACADEMY
GAME 3 RESULT: WIN 16 – 4
Hudson Lutterman earned the victory for the Fighting Irish, giving up 0 runs, 2 hits, striking out 7 in 6 1/3 innings.
Lutterman also contributed at the plate, going 3-5 with 2 RBI. Ben Sompayrac was 2-4 with 2 RBI, 2 runs. The team had a total of 11 hits, including doubles by Lutterman, Ian Hubbard and Joey LaMattina.
With the wins over Brentwood, Knox Catholic moves on to the quarterfinals to face Baylor in a best of 3 series.
